It is well worth a pause for refreshment at the bar of the Hotel. Carry on up the canal towards the Basin du Combat under the bridge and up towards la Villette Park, past Pantin and into the Paris suburbs where a cuddle can be stolen in the country setting. The best time to set out on your journey is on Sunday between 2 and 6pm when much of the canal is reserved for bikers and pedestrians. You can hire one of the thousands of Paris "velo libre" for just a few Euros a day!
